Marsupial Mammals  
Australia has the greatest number and most diverse marsupials in the world and Tasmania has some of the rarest. A marsupial is a mammal with a pouch. Marsupial translates to 'animal with a little bag'. Marsupials play various roles in the environment. Kangaroos and wallabies are the large grazers; wombats are burrowers; Tasmanian Devils and Quolls, the carnivores.
 
Other Mammals  

Tasmania has many native mammals including the egg laying Platypus and Echidna, flying bats and rodents.
 
Birds  
 
Tasmania's skies are filled with amazing birds. The magnificent Wedge Tail Eagle,Laughing Kookaburra, Parrots, Native Hens, Currawong and Waddling on our beaches the Fairy Penguin.
