Stumpy
was a male devil who came to Boomajaril in 2005. The reason
we called him stumpy was that his tail had been bitten off,
which left him with a stump for a tail. (Yes I know we are
very inventive with our names).
He
was very shy his first year and would run away from us. He
would come up on the verandah, grab a piece of chicken and
run away, it wasn't until 2006 that he started to interact
with the us and take food from our hands.
Once
he realised that we were not going to harm him, he started
sitting at the door waiting for attention. When we would approach
the door he would run around in circles with excitement barking
and finally take the food from your hand.
He
replaced Rummy our big gentle male, as our resident big male,
however while Rummy would gently take the food from your hand,
Stumpy was more of a snatcher.
He
had a sweet nature and was highly infectious. Stumpy started
to deteriorate in 2007 and then didn't return to Boomajaril.
He would have been about four years of age.

Rum,
one of our first Devils in 2003, waits patiently
at the door on the back verandah. |
